Nasty Cellulite – What Really Causes It?

Cellulite represents one of the most common skin problems. Although mainly affecting women, men can suffer from it too. Unaesthetic by nature, cellulite mainly consists of fat deposits giving the skin an aspect of “orange peel”. There are numerous factors triggering the apparition of cellulite and, unlike most people think, excessive weight is not necessarily a cause. Slim and even skinny persons can develop cellulite due to their poor diets or bad genetics. Here are the most common factors that trigger cellulite and how to get rid of it:

Age

With age skin loses elasticity thus, it is more prone to develop certain specific skin conditions, including wrinkles and cellulite. Moreover, most women tend to gain up weight easier after a certain age, meaning they are even more prone to deal with cellulite. However, most women will start developing a form of cellulite immediately after puberty or during it mainly because of the hormonal and body changes.

Poor genetics also falls into this category as you are more susceptible of developing cellulite if one of your family members (usually mother, aunt or grandmother) also deals with cellulite.

Poor diet

Foods rich in carbohydrates and saturated fats will not only help you gain weight faster but will also cause the appearance of unaesthetic cellulite. In order to avoid that you need to look after your diet and avoid greasy, salty and overly sweet foods. Fast foods, junk food and sodas are the worst enemies of a beautiful, elastic and flawless skin. Get rid of French fries, burgers, sodas and pancakes on a regular basis and replace them with healthier choices – loads of fresh fruits to stock up on the good sugars and tons of veggies for extra proteins, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Lack of sufficient water

If you are not used to drinking at least 1.5 liters of water daily (depending on your weight and height) you will probably develop a wide series of skin and body affections in time, including cellulite. In time your skin will lose elasticity and it will get harder for it to fight against fats and carbohydrates intakes. Keeping your body hydrated daily is necessary to avoid swallow feet, pimples, excessive sweat, wrinkles and cellulite.

Although a plan on the long run, a healthy diet combined with physical exercises and loads of daily water intakes represent the easiest way to get rid of cellulite, maintain a good looking body and staying healthy.
